IELTS - International English Language Testing System.
To pursue your higher education or work in countries where English is the language of communication, you need to get through this test, wherein you are judged on a scale of 9.
This exam is managed by British council, IDP:IELTS Australia and Cambridge English Language Assessment. IELTS is accepted by most Australian, British, Canadian and New Zealand academic institutions, by more then 3000 academic institutions in the US, and by various professional organizations across the world.
Almost 3 million IELTS tests are taken each year, to sum it up its clear that in case you are planning to go abroad IELTS is a must prerequisite you need to have.Every organization in English speaking countries weather it is educational or workplace asks for your IELTS score to check your ability to communicate both verbal and written in English language.
There is are two kinds of modules in IELTS Exam:
- IELTS Academic
IELTS academic is for the students who are aspiring to do higher studies abroad like M.S in any specialization, MBA etc. - IELTS General
IELTS General is for the professionals who have work experience and aspiring to work abroad or looking for immigration.

Ielts test consist of four subjects namely:

IELTS syllabus
LISTENING:
Duration : 30 minutes
Here, you are made to listen and answer a series of questions
It consists four sections:
Section 1 : Conversation (2 people)
Section 2: Monologue (social context)
Section 3: Group conversation
Section 4: Monologue (academic subject)
Tip: listen to the English Radio. watch English movies,
talk shows, lectures etc to get a hang of it.
READING:
Duration : 60 minutes
You will be awarded grades on the basis of:
- Reading for gist
- Reading for main ideas
- Reading for detail
- Skimming
- Understanding local argument
- Recognizing writer’s opinions, attitudes and purpose.
Tip: read articles on various topics, journals,
newspaper editorials, novels etc
WRITING:
Duration: 60 minutes
Task 1 :Writing a letter (for general) and
Writing Description (for academic)
Task 2: Essay writing.
Tip: Start writing your diary. try your hand at story building.
creative writing is a good option too.
SPEAKING:
Duration: 11 to 14 minutes
Part 1:General question
Part 2: Cue card questions
Part 3:Questions related to part 2
Tip: Practice speaking in front of a mirror, look for a person who can
correct your language.
